What happens when I delete a contact outside of Clay?

  • Updated

Clay creates and maintains its own database of your network based on your connected accounts. When you connect an integration like LinkedIn or Apple Contacts, Clay imports your contacts from that source and enriches them with additional information.

However, if you later delete a contact from one of these external sources:

  • The contact will remain in your Clay database
  • Their information will still be accessible in Clay
  • Any notes, reminders, or groups associated with that contact in Clay will be preserved

If you'd like to remove a contact from Clay after deleting them from an external source, you may archive the contact. This keeps their information in your Clay database but removes them from your active contacts.
