Bring your existing contacts into Clay with our simple CSV import tool. Whether you're working with a spreadsheet from another CRM, a contact list, or a custom database, Clay makes it easy to import your connections while preserving all their important details.
1. Click your Profile Icon
on the upper right corner and select Settings > Integrations > CSV on your Mac or Windows app.
2. Click the box in the middle to open your file explorer or drag and drop your CSV file into the box.
⚠️ Make sure that your CSV file exactly follows the Clay CSV template format:
- Column names must match the template's headers
- Each row must provide AT LEAST ONE of the following:
- Name; First Name AND Last Name;
- Email Addresses;
- Phone Numbers;
- LinkedIn URLs;
- Facebook URLs;
- Twitter URLs
- For columns that support multiple values (Email, Phone, and Groups), please use commas to separate multiple values
- All URLs (e.g. website, LinkedIn, etc.) should be full URLs, including the https (e.g. https://linkedin.com/in/example)
- Format birthdays as YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY
- Supported cadences are: weekly; monthly; quarterly; yearly
3. Once you've added your file, click on the Upload
button.
4. We'll do a quick scan of your file and let you know if there are errors or anything that needs fixing. If everything looks good, click the Upload
button again.
