2-way Address Book Sync [Beta]

  • Updated

Many Clay members now use Clay as their primary address book, but our goal has always been to give you access to those relationships where you need them the most. Today, we're excited to introduce a big first step in that vision.

Now, you can add Clay to your phone or computer as a secondary address book, so your entire network is displayed seamlessly alongside your other contacts. This means:

  1. New contacts you add on your phone or computer will immediately be added to Clay
  2. Changes you make in Clay will display on your phone

Getting Started

To get started, go to Settings > Integrations > Address Book (CardDAV). You'll see a special email address and password for your new Clay address book. You can then add that account as a new address book on your phone, computer, or any service that allows for external CardDAV connections.

Clay now works anywhere CardDAV is supported, including operating systems like Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android; address books like Apple Contacts and Outlook; and third-party apps like Raycast and Alfred.

Add Clay to your iPhone

Full instructions are available from Apple here. In summary:

  1. Go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts > Add Account.
  2. Tap Other, tap Add CardDAV Account, then enter the server and account information from Clay.

ℹ️ Make sure to enter only the part before @ as your username. So if your username is johndoe@sync.clay.earth, enter johndoe as your username when logging in on iOS.

Add Clay to Windows

Windows doesn't natively support third-party CardDAV accounts, but the instructions here should work as a workaround.

Add Clay to macOS

Open the Contacts app on macOS and then go to Settings > Accounts. Click the + button in the bottom left, select "Other Contacts Account", and enter your credentials from Clay:

Add Clay to your Android

Here we use the application DAVx⁵ which allows to set up contacts sync easily as well.

Base URL: https://sync.clay.earth
User name: johnsmith
Password: the password you generated in Settings

ℹ️ Make sure to also enter only the part before @ as your username. So if your username is johnsmith@sync.clay.earth, enter johnsmith as your username when logging in on Android.
